1959 Chevrolet, Photos of originals and restored originals

This is a collection of photos gathered by Jim during his years of spotting '59 Chevrolets. Click the photos for an expanded view of each.

David in Atlanta Georgia has this clean 73,000 mile BelAir sedan. It was a one-family-owned car that is about 95% original. Like Jim's '59 Impala, it is powered by a 235cid 6-cylinder with a "three on the tree".
Diane from Kentland Indiana sent this image. Taken in 1960, she is standing beside an almost new 1959 BelAir sedan. She remembers that the car in this photo was the same color combination as Jim's Impala.

Roger from Lincoln Nebraska sent this image of his mom. The photo was taken around 1961 next to her 348 powered '59 flat top.

Two kids in a "Hot Rod" pulled up next to Mom and I at a stoplight when I was just a kid (10 or 11) and asked her "can you drive that Chevy"... Man, did she blow the doors off of that Hot Rod! Afterwards she said "Now, don't be telling your Father about this" with a smile.

Notice the California "black plates"

Original color car located only 35 miles from Jim. Six cylinder three speed.

Yes, this IS the actual car that was destroyed in the infamous 2009 IIHS crash-test video. This car was driven into a 2009 Chevy to prove how safe modern cars are.

This 1959 Biscayne is on display at the Kokomo Indiana Automotive Heritage Museum. The museum is located in the Civic Center on US31 on the North side of town. The car is an original California built with one piece bumpers. It has the 348 engine with three carburetors, four speed transmission, and radio/heater delete. A factory race car!

This is an example of the type of engine in the Kokomo car featured above. A 348 CID with three carbs. This is not a "low carb" diet! (5.7 liter)
